With over twenty years of experience in film and television drama production METROPOLITAN FILMS, through its international and production entities, develops, produces and provides production services to international film and television projects that locate in Ireland, most recently Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Jodie Comer. Metropolitan is currently working with Disney as the Irish co-production partners on Disenchanted, shot entirely in Ireland.
Since 2015, Metropolitan Films International has operated as a qualifying Irish Producer Company under the aegis of the Section 481 corporation film tax incentive. Projects it has been commissioned to produce since then include Vikings 4, 5 and 6 for MGM, Penny Dreadful 3 for Showtime, Greta, directed by Neil Jordan for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment distributed by Universal, Tomato Red for Indican and Take 5, Into The Badlands 2 and 3 for AMC, and Valhalla for MGM and Netflix.
International co-productions include Calvary, starring Brendan Gleeson, Dorothy Mills, My Boy Jack and The Tudors 1 to 4.
In addition to Disenchanted current Metropolitan Films International co-productions include: Moonhaven for AMC; Harry Wild, an eight part drama series starring Jane Seymour in the title role, for Dynamic Television, Acorn Media, RTÉ and ZDF; Redemption, a six-part drama series for ITV Studios, Virgin Media Television and Screen Ireland, supported by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund; and Kin, a co-production for BRON Studios, Screen Ireland & RTÉ, supported by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund, acquired by AMC and recently premiered on its international streaming platform and currently being broadcast primetime on RTÉ.
